2. Samsung S95D QD-OLED 55" — £1,299 Best premium

The brightest OLED money can buy. QD-OLED technology means you get the deep blacks of OLED with significantly higher peak brightness than conventional OLED. One Connect Box included. The best TV we've reviewed in 2024 — full stop.

3. Hisense U8N 55" — £649 Best value

2,000+ nits of peak brightness at this price is almost offensive to the competition. Mini-LED with 1,500+ local dimming zones, 144Hz, Google TV. If your room is bright and OLED isn't in budget, this is the answer.

4. TCL C855 65" — £699 Best large-screen value

65 inches, all four ports HDMI 2.1, 144Hz, FreeSync Premium Pro. For £699. The gaming credentials alone justify this pick, but it's also an excellent everyday TV. The best size-to-price ratio in our range.

5. Panasonic Z95A 55" — £1,099 Best for film

Panasonic calibrates its TVs against Hollywood studio monitors. If you watch films and you care about colour accuracy more than peak brightness, the Z95A is the right choice. Filmmaker Mode here is the best implementation we've seen.

6. Sony Bravia 7 55" — £799 Best natural picture

Sony's Cognitive Processor XR delivers the most natural-looking image of any non-OLED at this price. Motion handling and skin tones are exceptional. Brilliant for drama, sport and streaming. A reliable recommendation for anyone upgrading from an older Sony.

7. Philips OLED808 Ambilight 55" — £899 Most immersive

Three-sided Ambilight is the feature that's hard to explain until you've seen it. Once you've watched a film with colour washing across your wall in real time, standard TVs feel flat. The OLED808 pairs this with a quality OLED panel and Google TV.

8. Samsung Q60D 50" — £449 Best under £500

Quantum dot colour at an entry-level price. This is the TV we recommend when the conversation starts with "I just need something decent for the bedroom." Samsung's Tizen is responsive, the picture is noticeably better than non-QLED sets at this price, and it does the job.
